The 2011 Dreamforce Conference had rocking sessions & entertainment
Mediative’s Sales Operations Manager, Cindy Danielson, just got back from the 2011 Dreamforce Conference, and filed this report:
I attended the Salesforce 2011 Dreamforce conference last month in San Francisco and all I can say is…AMAZING! With 45,000 attendees, it was the largest user conference in the WORLD (surpassing Oracle CRM – according to Salesforce.com Chairman & CEO Marc Benioff).
What I really enjoyed is the mix of attendees – everyone from developer ‘geeks’, users and administrators like me, to senior executives, all there for the same reason – to learn how we can leverage Salesforce to improve our businesses collaboration, communication and processes to ultimately (and most importantly) increase revenue.
The main theme for the event came down to two words: social enterprise. Salesforce Chatter was highlighted as a vital new tool, a sort of firewalled Facebook for all staff – even those that don’t have Salesforce licences. Other benefits that were touted include:
• The ability to create private groups with clients
• Facilitating a flatter organization
• Better collaboration throughout the organization
• Staying connected on industry and client news
• Reducing email by up to 30%
• All ideas simply summed up in daily or weekly digests.
Other highlights of the event included the keynote with Google’s Eric Schmidt on the social enterprise. Social networking within an organization is still in its infancy! All of the conferences keynotes can be found at http://www.youtube.com/salesforce
I came away with more metrics and dashboards ideas, too! (My inner geek is coming out.)
• higher adoption of CRM by sales reps = more accurate forecasts (this is near and dear to my heart).?
• importance of tracking our clients social networks to stay in tune with their challenges and proactively respond.
o I loved Marc Benioff’s hotel example – imagine your hotel knowing all your wants and needs BEFORE you step foot through the door.
Another great benefit of attending the event was networking; connecting with colleagues, Salesforce ‘geeks’ and learning about how we all use the platform.
The event was top-notch, highly organized, with amazing entertainment by Metallica and Will-I-Am (from Black Eyed Peas). I was lucky enough to be about 10 rows back from the stage so, even though I didn’t arrive a huge Metallica or Will-I-Am fan, I left one! I already look forward to 2012 Dreamforce – September 18-20, 2012 – San Francisco.
